DIY Training Pants

Evie woke up Sunday and decided she was finally going to use the big girl potty! I am so proud of my little girl. So today we headed to Walmart for some training pants. They had some for like $8 and you only got 3. So I decided to make my own with leftover diaper supplies and some undies.

Here is how:
Step 1: Get some underwear. I got size 8.

Step 2: I took left over pre-folded diapers and cut them into 3rds.

I then judged how much I needed for the underwear .

Step 4: I took my fabric and pinned it into the underwear and stitched it.

And there you go. All done!

Training pants are just meant to catch a little bit of the oh no pee. The ones at the store didn't feel like they had much absorption.

Mine came out at $.75 a pair. Pretty great I think.

Mommy & Me Project: DIY Laundry Soap

I came across this amazing DIY soap awhile ago but just never got around to making it. With this bitter weather having us cooped up inside, I figured why not. So follow us below to make your own great soap!

Materials needed:
1. One 4 lb 12 ounce box of Borax.
2. Three bars of Fels-Naptha soap. ( You can also use any others like Zote soap)
3. One 4 lb box of arm & hammer baking soda.
4. One box of arm & hammer super washing soda
5. 4 lb of Oxy Clean ( had to buy 2 since they came in 3lbs)
6.Two contationers of the Unstoppables scents

Step 1: Grate up the Fels-Naptha soap.
This step is the most time consuming and kinda tested my patience.
Step 2: Take your Fels-Naptha soap and mix into a big bucket with all the other powders and the Unstoppable beads.
I put mind in a big trash bag and shook everything up.
Step 3: Put in a jar of your choice.
I already had this mason jar on hand. I stored everything else in the tubs stuff came in and bags to be opened as we need them.

The recipe says use one scoop with a large load. I am gonna play around with how much to use in a load.

I spent $35 on everything and it's rumored to last a whole year. And being a mommy, I wash a ton of clothes all the time. I hope this keeps Evie's clothes super clean and keeps more money in my pocket.

Sinless Cookies Recipe

At my house we love cookies! Recently I have been looking for better stuff to eat and came across these. Today Evie and I decided to bake up a batch. Check out how it went.

To make 8 cookies you will need:

1 cup of oats
2 ripe bananas
A heaped tablespoon of peanut butter
1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips
*I decided to make a double batch*

1) Get your helper.

 2) Chop your banana into small pieces and mash it up.

3) Add both the mashed banana and the cup of oats into a large mixing bowl and stir together.
Once the oats and banana are combined, mix in the heaped tablespoon of peanut butter.

4) Stir in half a cup of dark chocolate chips.

5) Separate the mixture into small balls on a baking tray lined with grease-proof paper and bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.

They came out great. Yum!

Holiday Fun

Evie was very excited for Christmas this year. We played a lot of Christmas music and made our place festive. After we put our tree up, she always made sure the lights where on. Oh course our tree went without ornaments this year, due to her and the cats. This season they knocked the tree over about 5 times.

So excited I got her a doll

We got to go to my aunt's Christmas party. It was a pretty big deal because this was the 30th one and Evie's 1st time being there. Evie had fun and was pretty well behaved. We do an ornament exchange each year and she got a cowboy riding a horse ornament. She loves it!

At the party

For Christmas, we all made the trip to Alton IL. Unfortunately after a rough night, we were running on little sleep. I had to drive us up there and I'd say that was interesting. I much prefer my tiny car and I find his car to be too big. Once there Evie got to see her cousins and Grandma. Evie sure has gotten the hang of opening presents! She even had to help other people open theirs. She got lots of great presents and for weeks after Christmas she would wake up so happy and run and play with them.

Her new laptop

For New Year's eve, Evie and I played some baby games, did puzzles and had our chips& dip. She actually made it to midnight and we watched the ball drop! Silly kid.

Watching the ball drop

Happy 2015 everyone. Hope everyone had a great time in 2014 and here's to 2015!

Evie Xmas Pictures

Selfie b4 the photo shoot fun

In my line of work I meet so many people and a few of those have made a special connection with me. I have been to football games, Summer garden parties and other events because of people I meet. I have met a great guy, who is a hobby photographer. In the past few months of visits and talks I asked him to come try to take some pictures of Evie. He is great with kids and he takes pictures because he loves doing it.

Evie is one hyper 2 yr old and doesn't manage to sit still very long.  I didn't really expect to be in the pictures, but I think I look pretty good for being one tired mommy.

I think it's so weird how people come into your life. This guy, by supporting my small is business has saved my butt back in October, financially. I am so grateful for his business, but not just for the money, it's for the connection. I love doing what I do because it makes people feel so relaxed and better, if they are in pain or whatever. Of course I never share anything person about my people but he wouldn't care if I shared this amazing story of how he became my client.

Back in October things where very up in the air. Ever since Addsheet screwed me over (future blog perhaps), I survived in September by running a $29 special. But then I needed to keep running some sort of special to make ends meet. October slowly dried up and I was excited for Halloween but at the same time wanted the month to last as long as possible so I'd make rent. The this great guy landed in my lap. The lady I rent from often refers me people that she doesn't want. The best part is that he has gotten massages for 25 years and has seen about everything but he loves mine the best! Funny story is he even saw my arch enemies up at my old place I rented. The girl that gives them up there is always so high on drugs and stinks of bo. She even blindfolded him! And of course she said all the therapists do it. (If you live in CoMo don't go get a massage from Savannah Bouton). Anyways the lady I used to rent from even had the nerve to ask him, after he left his treatment, for more money because they under charged him. Yes, they are nut jobs up there. Sorry to get off track, but I just thought I'd share some of that.

So see that's why I am so glad he has been seeing me. Very grateful he got to meet Evie and take some pictures. Such a great day!

Thanksgiving in Drexel

This Thanksgiving, I got to see my parents on the actual holiday! I was so excited to take Evie down to the farm. Once there, we got to see the 2 kittens, Clea and Murphy, that we had taken in and fostered. (After our trip Clea got very ill and passed away) After settling in, Evie just was so happy to see all the other kitties, too many kitties to catch! Moe, who is now 31 years old, gave Evie some kiddie rides. I don't know who enjoyed it more him or Evie. Of course just like the horse rides at the store I had to coax Evie off when the ride was over. She really likes pony rides. Evie got to see the last 2 living chicken on the farm, they are really old and I don't know if my parents are gonna get any more chickens.

Being picky, Evie didn't want any turkey, that was ick! But she sure ate my mom's homemade pumpkin pie and turtle cake. It was a really fun trip and I am just so grateful we made it there and back. Of course on the trip home, Evie threw up all over just outside of Holden. Oh and she has learned the word poop. So when we were about to get on the highway outside of Warrensburg, I heard a little voice saying "butt poop ick". So of course we had to make another pit stop. Oh traveling with a  kid can be so fun. But over all a great trip!
